How to choose LED tube lights & battens
Length and wattage
A 4 ft (about 1200 mm) batten of 18W–22W suits a normal room or shop wall; 2 ft battens of 5W–10W fit kitchens, bathrooms, cupboards and small spaces. Long halls and showrooms use several battens in a row.
Colour of light
Cool daylight (6500K) is the usual choice for shops, offices and kitchens; neutral white (4000K) is easier on the eyes for study and work; warm white suits living rooms.
Batten or tube?
A batten comes with its own built-in fitting, so it replaces the whole old fitting in one go. A T5 or T8 LED tube goes into a matching holder.
Where the power fluctuates
Look for models with surge protection (many list 4 kV on the box).
